The famous Fortune Cookie factory is on Ross Alley a half block from Grant Street. Portsmouth Square was the original city center which expanded and was relocated to Union Square. There is a memorial dedicated to Louis Stevenson, the author and Hallide, the cable car inventor. The Goddess of light statue commemorating the 4/15/ 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre Goddess of light is also located on the historical park. Filbert Steps

One of the reasons tourists visit the Filbert Street steps is because of the breathtaking views, old charming cottages tucked up on impossible steep streets, with lush greenery year round. In the 1850s, longshoremen lived here. They would look out for ships coming into the bay and run down the hill to unload them. Grace Marchant planted the gardens in 1949 and are maintained by the neighbors in her memory.

The international orange color of the bridge blends in with the underlying Franciscan complex rock formation. The GGB is the most photographed structure in the world for a reason.
